Geometrical design and strength check of a pre-stressed bolt connection, loaded by static or cyclic loading respectively, acting both in the axis of the bolt and in the plane of the connected parts. Calculation supports many 2D CAD systems.
Pros: MITCalc is a set of engineering, industrial, and technical calculations for your day-to-day routines. It will reliably, precisely, and most of all quickly guide you through the design of components, the solution of a technical problem, or a calculation of an engineering problem without any significant need for expert knowledge. This specific module is an application built-in on Excel that provides design checks for bolted components. It helps you check design as well as strength checks of pre-stressed bolt connection. The connection may have to support static or cyclic load acting along the axis or in the plane of the connected parts. The package supports automatic design of standard parts. The standards supported are ANSI B1.1, ANSI 273, ANSI B18.2.1, ANSI B18.2.2, ANSI B18.3, ANSI B18.6.2, ANSI B18.6.3, ANSI B18.22.1, ISO 273, ISO 1207, ISO 4016, ISO 4032, ISO 4035, ISO 4762, ISO 8738, VDI 2230. Calculations, algorithms and data are based on these standards and design literature. Automatic design of connection bolts of standard designs, calculation and checks of bolts with shanks, calculation pre-stress and fastening torque, calculation of force conditions of a loaded connection, static and dynamic strength checks etc are supported. The application includes a tables of commonly used materials of bolts according to ISO, SAE and ASTM standards and a selection of materials of the connected parts according to AISI/SAE, DIN, BS, AF and others.
Supports 2D CAD systems including AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, IntelliCAD, TurboCAD and so on. User interface is easy to use and detailed on-line help and expert notes are available.
Cons: No particular problems noticed.
Overall a nice design help, it is rated at 4 star level.
